Multistreaming means sending one show to more than one platform. Choose the simplest reliable path: a relay service receives one upload and forwards it, while a direct setup uploads separate streams from your device.

Monitor each destination

Direct alternative: OBS sends separate uploads to each platform. This requires additional upstream capacity and compatible output tools.

STEP BY STEP
01

Choose two destinations first

Create and prepare the accounts you intend to use. Set each title, category, thumbnail where available and channel description. Keep the first test to two platforms so you can monitor both properly.

02

Choose your delivery method

A cloud relay means OBS sends one feed to a service that forwards it. Direct output means your computer sends each feed separately. Compare current service costs, platform support and your upload capacity before choosing.

03

Connect the destinations in Restream

For a simple relay setup, create a Restream account, open Channels and add KICK and Twitch using their account connections. Authorise your own accounts and confirm both destinations are enabled. Keep connection screens and stream keys out of your broadcast.

04

Connect OBS to the relay

In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose Restream and connect your account or use the provided stream URL and key. OBS sends one feed to Restream; Restream forwards it to your enabled channels. Check the destinations in Restream before starting the OBS stream.

05

Match a compatible output

Use each destination’s current ingest guidance. Pick a resolution, frame rate and bitrate all destinations support. Test with the actual activity, because encoding load changes when you start a game.

06

Prepare moderation for each platform

Open each native chat separately and check alerts on each destination. Ask a moderator to watch the platform you cannot actively follow. Give each audience a complete experience.

07

Run and review a short test

Check audio sync, picture and connectivity on every destination from a viewer device. Note whether problems are in OBS, the relay or one platform. Keep a single-platform fallback ready.

YOUR PRACTICAL TASK

Your next action.

Draw your exact path from OBS to each destination. Run a ten-minute test and write one fallback plan if the relay disconnects.

QUESTIONS BEGINNERS ASK

Before you go live.

Can I multistream for free?+

Restream’s current free plan supports two eligible channels and includes Restream branding. Some destinations, custom RTMP and other features require a paid plan. Check the current plan details before selecting your destinations.

Will multistreaming double my audience?+

No. It gives people more places to watch, but each channel still needs a clear show, consistent publishing and a reason to return.

Does it use more upload?+

Separate direct uploads consume additional upstream capacity. A relay normally receives one upload from you and forwards it from its servers. Your actual setup determines the load.

Can I use the same settings everywhere?+

Only if all destinations support them. Check current ingest instructions and any account-specific requirements before the test.
