A clip should deliver a complete moment: a useful answer, a surprising result or a short story. More clips are only useful when each has a reason to be watched.

Mark moments while they happen
Keep a note of timestamps after a strong question, discovery or reaction. Ask an editor or moderator to mark them too. Review these moments before scrubbing the entire recording.
Choose one promise
Describe the clip in one sentence: “This fixes a common OBS echo” or “I nearly lost this round because of one decision.” If it requires a long explanation, choose a clearer moment.
Open close to the payoff
Cut the waiting, menus and repeated setup. Begin with a clear action, question or result, then give enough context for a person who has never seen your stream.
Make it readable on a phone
Use a vertical version where it suits the destination, keep the main subject visible and check that captions do not cover the action. Correct auto-captions, especially names and game terms.
Finish the moment and give one next step
Let the useful answer or result land. Invite the viewer to the next relevant stream or related clip. Avoid a long outro that repeats the whole message.
Save the brief and result
Record the source timestamp, hook, topic, length, destination and follow-up link. Look at retention and responses once the platform has processed enough data, then change one element next time.
Your next action.
Take one 30–60 second moment and make a self-contained clip. Show it to someone without explaining the backstory; ask what they understood.
Make it happen.
Before you go live.
How many clips should I make?+
Start with a small number of strong moments you can edit and review properly. A five-to-ten-clip production target is a capacity plan, not a reason to publish weak moments.
Do clips need subtitles?+
Captions help people follow speech in sound-off viewing and improve accessibility. Review them manually so mistakes do not change what you said.
