Help viewers understand one part of Dota instead of trying to explain every system at once. Focus on a role, a hero or a decision you are practising.

GIVE EVERY MATCH A PURPOSE
01

Set the challenge

One clear objective

02

Explain decisions

Narrate when useful

03

Review one moment

What changed the outcome?

04

Next match adjustment

Keep, change, test

THREE IDEAS TO START WITH
01

Practise one lane decision on one hero

02

Explain one support objective per match

03

Review three moments from your own replay

Your 45-minute plan: 0–5 welcome · 5–20 first segment · 20–35 second segment · 35–42 final segment · 42–45 recap and next stream.

STEP BY STEP
01

Prepare the minimum setup

Test the match and OBS together, including a busy team fight. Keep voice above game sound. If you are learning, use practice or appropriate unranked modes to develop the format without distracting teammates.

02

Open with a clear promise

“Today I am practising lane positioning on one hero. I will explain three decisions and review one mistake after each match.”

03

Segment one: set the scene

Explain your role, hero and one learning target.

04

Segment two: deliver the activity

Narrate decisions during quieter moments and focus during demanding play.

05

Segment three: close the loop

Review one fight or map decision with the recording or available replay tools.

06

Mark one useful clip

Use one choice and its consequence: what you noticed, what you did and what you would change.

YOUR PRACTICAL TASK

Your next action.

Write your opening, run a ten-minute recording using this format, then schedule one manageable first stream. Review one technical issue and one content improvement afterwards.

QUESTIONS BEGINNERS ASK

Before you go live.

How do I explain the game without overwhelming beginners?+

Explain the immediate goal first. Define only the term needed for that decision, then return to the action. A viewer does not need a full rules lesson to follow one moment.

Should I commentate during every fight?+

No. Use short reactions during action and explain your reasoning in quieter moments or a post-match review.
